Nickelodeon Universe at the Mall of America will close to the public on Wednesday, the same day that schools shutter statewide.

The announcement from the Mall of America on Monday states that the indoor theme park will close until the end of the month.

Nickelodeon will be offered opportunities to work elsewhere in the MOA, which is not closing its doors.

"Retail and food options within Nickelodeon Universe will remain open for business," the mall said.

"Certain retailers ... have chosen to implement limited hours or temporarily close. We are giving all tenants the flexibility to do what is right for their business at this challenging time."

All events inside the MOA have been canceled, coming amid the state's guidance to postpone large gatherings of people.

"We understand that this decision [to close Nickelodeon] impacts countless visitors – including families who may have planned their spring break vacation here – as well as other tenants, the surrounding hotels and hospitality industry, and most importantly all of our employees."
