It’s 18 holes of beautiful rolling hills and deep valleys. It’s also 18 holes of championship, challenging golf, no matter the skill set. No wonder Grand National Golf Course is consistently ranked one of the best courses in the state.

Location is another perk that sets this course apart. Smack dab in the middle of Minnesota’s "up north" cabin country, the course is 70 miles north of the Twin Cities.

Mini-vacationers will find a driving range, two practice holes, a club house and pro shop, and golf carts decked out with GPS, as well as a next-door neighbor that offers all the gaming you could want: Grand Casino Hinckley.

Comfortable hotels nearby include the Grand Casino Hinckley Hotel and Chalets, Grand Hinckley Inn, which reopens on June 1, and Grand Casino RV Park.

Spring is Sweeter with a Discount on Golf

On Mondays through Fridays in May, the course welcomes golfers with open — and socially distant — arms.

Get 18 holes of golf, plus a golf cart, for $29.

Golf lovers can enjoy other packages May through September

Three other packages — the Par, the Eagle, and the Ultimate — offer varying levels of playing, staying, eating, and even gaming at the casino. Prices are noted below for a double-occupancy overnight stay at Grand Casino Hinckley or in a Chalet, and are lower for a stay at the Grand Hinckley Inn or the Grand Casino RV Park.

– The Par Package includes a one-night stay and one round of golf with a cart. Golfers who stay Sunday through Thursday pay $130, and those who stay Friday or Saturday night pay $160.

– The Eagle Package includes a one-night stay, two rounds of golf, and a $50 dining credit at Grand Casino Hinckley. During the week, a stay is $200. A weekend stay is $230.

– The Ultimate Package includes a one-night stay, unlimited golf, a $50 dining credit, and $50 in Grand Play™, offering endless casino fun, and maybe a jackpot. During the week, a stay is $330, and a weekend stay is $360.

Dining options, and booking

They’re varied and surprising in their offerings. Grand Provisions has all your favorites, including burgers, sandwiches, pizza, and entrées, as well as a big breakfast menu.

The Winds Steakhouse is the place to go for a quiet evening enjoying tenderloin or ribeye, crab cakes or lobster, with a glass of cabernet, Prosecco, or champagne.

It’s currently open five nights a week. Call 320-484-4875 for reservations.

If readers are interested in packages, tee times, or more information, they can call 320-384-7777 and mention the name of the package they’re interested in: Par, Eagle, or Ultimate.

All packages are based on availability and subject to change without notice.
