CVS has announced it will be closing almost 50 of its underperforming stores, three of which are in the Twin Cities.

Announcing its First Quarter results on Wednesday, the company said it has embarked on a "store rationalization" effort that will see it close 46 stores across the U.S. by the end of June.

That includes three stores in Minnesota, two of which are in Minneapolis, with the other in Brooklyn Park. Here are the closing stores, courtesy of USA Today.

  • Brooklyn Park: 7996 Brooklyn Blvd.
  • Minneapolis: 1110 Hennepin Ave.
  • Minneapolis: 2426 W. Broadway Ave.

It's been a bad 12 months so far for store closures in Minnesota and elsewhere across the country.

The past year has seen the closure of all Herberger's, Shopko, and Payless ShoeSource stores, while Minnesota has lost multiple locations from the likes of Mattress Firm, Creative Kidstuff, North Face, and Columbia.

Major retailers including Gap, JCPenney and Foot Locker have also announced scores of closures will happen this year, though lists of affected locations haven't been revealed.
