One of six Minnesotans auditioning on the Fox TV's "MasterChef" has advanced in the reality competition, the Pioneer Press reports.

Jordan Roots, 29, of Minneapolis moved into the top 19 with a dish that included lamb brains and a deconstructed langoustine bisque.

Roots -- works as a delivery driver -- is competing for a $250,000 prize and a cookbook deal.

In his show bio, Ramsay said his mom was his primary influence with his love for food.

"She taught me at a young age how rewarding it can be to cook and entertain for friends and family," Roots said.

The other Minnesotans who auditioned included James Blesi of Anoka County; Liyah Sangathit of Bloomington, Marie Porter of Minneapolis; Nick Garcia of St. Paul and Joan Webb and Vadnais Heights.

In next Tuesday's episode of the show, Roots and his competitors will have to cook for 300 children.

Among the show's judges is Gordon Ramsay, the fiery celebrity chef behind “Hell’s Kitchen” and “Kitchen Nightmare."

The show airs locally on Fox 9 at 7 p.m.
