Delta has launched a program offering some extra perks to its SkyMiles members for an annual fee.
The airline, which counts MSP as one of its main hubs, has launched SkyMiles Select, which offers what it says is $100 value for an annual fee of $59.
Here's what you get for the money:
– The SkyMiles Select member gets to board in the Main Cabin 1 boarding group every time they fly, even if they have a "basic economy" ticket.
– Eight complimentary drinks on Delta flights every year.
– A "limited edition" SkyMiles Select bag tag, which will be delivered to the subscriber's house.
Twin Cities-based Thrifty Traveler notes that the main benefit here to regular fliers is the complimentary drinks, noting that beer and wine on domestic flights start at $8 and $9.
However it does not that the other benefit, that of priority boarding, is already available to holders of Delta's American Express credit cards, which also allows up to 8 people on the reservation to get the same priority boarding.
Delta announced a raft of changes coming to its Delta SkyMiles Amex credit cards, which you can read about here.
