Just a perfectly run of the mill day for deputies in Chisago County, pulling over a distracted driver to find a pig on their lap.
Yes, that actually happened, with the Chisago County Sheriff's Office sharing a picture of the porcine offender on its Facebook page Tuesday.
"You just can't make this stuff up," it wrote. "One of our Sergeants responded to a driving complaint called into our dispatch center regarding poor driving conduct. This is what he walked up on..."
"Pro Tip: Don't drive with your pig on your lap," it added, in what is surely the first such statement made in the State of Minnesota.
The eagle-eyed among you might notice that it appears that Porky isn't the only pig in the pickup – you can spot a piglet nestled beneath its much larger friend's right leg.
The Chisago County Sheriff's Office notes that extra enforcement will be happening statewide in April for distracted driving awareness month.
Distracted driving was the main factor in 27 deaths on Minnesota roads in 2018, according to Minnesota Department of Public Safety figures.
