Wintry weather forces Sea Salt closure 2 days after opening

It's making conditions unsafe on the paths at Minnehaha Park.

Update Monday AM

Two days after opening for the season to the least spring-like of conditions, Sea Salt eatery at Minnehaha Park has closed again.

The restaurant announced that because of the snow seen over the weekend, and more that's coming on Monday and Tuesday, conditions on pathways are unsafe for customers.

It's hoping to reopen by Thursday.

Original story

Sea Salt restaurant has opened for the season and on its first weekend, it couldn't be less like summer.

The seafood restaurant in Minnehaha Park, a stone's throw from Minnehaha Falls, opened for the season on Friday.

Of course, what followed was a decidedly wintry storm that has blanketed the Twin Cities with several inches of snow.

As it opened its doors at 11 a.m. on Friday temperatures were hovering around freezing.

And it won't get much better anytime soon – the National Weather Service says things are expected to stay unseasonable cold throughout the week.

Still, it's getting a jump on its seasonal competition. The Bread & Pickle at Lake Harriet, Sandcastle at Nokomis and Lola's Cafe at Bde Maka Ska are all yet to open for the summer season.
