Gallery: Rare dual-dome home for sale in Eden Prairie, comes with slides
A rare dual-geodesic dome house — with slides — in Eden Prairie is for sale for $2.99 million.
The "Double Domes of Eden Prairie" is an 8,050-square-foot home at 6525 Rowland Road. Built in 1977, the home's design is a take on contemporary architecture that's "very rare," Realtor Jason Zoellner told Bring Me The News. Zoellner and Carrie Ledermann, both of Edina Realty, have the listing.
The six-bedroom, five-bathroom home sits on nearly 2 acres of private land a 5-minute walk from Bryant Lake Park, with Zoellner saying his favorite feature is the home's "elegance and fun all rolled up together."
He says the home would be perfect for "A large family that wants a fantasy getaway home for them to grow up in," noting the current owners are entrepreneurs with four young children.
Here's a look inside:
The first dome boasts open, main-level gathering spaces, including a large gourmet kitchen, dining room, living room and a three-season porch with a wrap-around porch. In this dome, there are skylights and windows offering 360 degrees of natural light, the listing states.
There is a guest bedroom that exits onto a catwalk in the middle of the second dome, below there's an amusement room that's accessible via a spiral tube slide, the listing says. The amusement room in the lower level has a stage, space for games and an adjoining kitchenette, and behind a bookcase, you'll find a hidden theater room.
Also in the lower level of the first dome is a putting green down the hallway with monkey bars overhead. At the end of the hallway are a workout room, a craft room and storage rooms.
In the upper portions of both domes are the other bedrooms. The homeowner's suite is at the top of the first dome, offering an outdoor private treetop deck and an indoor Juliet balcony, among other amenities.
The remaining four bedrooms are in the upper area of the second dome, each with a ladder that leads up to its own loft area.
Outside, there are several decks and outdoor areas for entertaining, including an upper deck that overlooks the backyard — with a second slide down to the yard. The property also boasts walking paths, a manmade pond, a waterfall, perennial gardens, and a zipline.
