Elton John announces new St. Paul concert dates — again

After the pandemic interrupted his extended farewell tour, the superstar has announced new dates for 2022.

After bidding us what we thought was farewell in February 2019, Elton John will return to Minnesota in 2022.

The pop giant announced Wednesday he'll be playing at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul March 22-23, 2022. John originally announced additional Minnesota dates as part of his "Farewell Yellow Brick Road" tour after selling out his Minneapolis show in 2019, but those plans were pushed back by the pandemic.

Original tickets will still be honored.

He has also announced rescheduled dates for Houston, Detroit, New York City, Miami, Toronto and Montreal. Earlier this summer, he announced his global tour will return in September 2021, starting in Berlin.

“I’ve been enjoying my time at home with the family while the world navigates its way through the COVID pandemic. But, I really miss being on the road and performing for my beloved fans in my Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour,” John said in a statement.

“While the scientists are making great progress, we are making big plans for a return to touring that will allow us to ensure the health and safety of everyone.”
