It's been a little over a week since Blaine police officer Steve Nanney and his wife, Susie, were killed in a motorcycle accident in Elk River.

The difficult week for the north metro police department featured a public memorial for the 10-year veteran of the force and his wife, a torchlight run in Nanney's honor, and on Saturday an announcement that the Nanney's pet dog has been adopted by a fellow officer.

"Many of you have asked how Nanney’s dog, Ranger is doing," Blaine PD posted on social media. "We are excited to announce that Ranger has been adopted by one of our Community Service Officers. Jennah has routinely watched Ranger for Steve and Susie therefore it was a natural decision for the family."

The Nanneys died when the motorcycle they were riding collided head-on with a pickup truck in Elk River on Friday, June 15.
