Fans puzzled after KARE 11 announces Kim Insley is leaving

The anchor was with the station for 24 years.

Over the weekend, Twin Cities news viewers learned that a very familiar face would no longer be appearing on their TV screens.

Kim Insley, who'd been anchoring mornings at KARE 11 since 1993, is officially done at the station, according to a Friday Facebook announcement

"After 24 years, KARE 11 and sunrise anchor, Kim Insley, are parting ways," the statement reads.

KARE gives no reason for her departure, but there's one line in the announcement that has some fans scratching their heads: "This is in no way a reflection of Kim’s many talents."

As user Paul Deiderich points out, "that is a weirdly worded statement."

A lot of other commenters agree, with some speculating it was a thinly veiled way of saying that Insley had been fired.

Others were unhappy with the announcement itself; one commenter said it's an "insulting" way to dismiss a veteran employee, adding that KARE needs a new "PR department."

For her part, Insley seems to be taking it in stride. On her own Facebook page, she posted a heartfelt goodbye in the form of a video, thanking Minnesotans for their viewership:

As far as what the future holds, the reporter says she's already working on some projects that she hopes will "benefit this community."

GoMN has reached out to KARE 11 for clarification on the announcement.
