Final call if you want to admire Minnesota's fall colors

It's your last chance to see fall colors.

If you've been meaning to get out for some fall color viewing, you better act now.

According to the Department of Natural Resources, all but one little corner of the state is already past its color peak. But if you go to the very southeast corner of the state, you'll still be able to catch trees in full color.

The 2.5 counties still in their color peak are Fillmore, Houston, and the eastern half of Mower.

Here's where the DNR says you should go

Beaver Creek Valley State Park is just south of Houston. The DNR recommends taking Switchback Trail to the top of the ridge to get a good view of the colors. The department says the Beaver Creek Trail has lost most of its leaves, though. But that means you can see the rock walls along the trail.

You can find a map of the park here.

The DNR also recommends Forestville/Mystery Cave State Park which is southeast of Spring Valley. The department notes that this is the last weekend to schedule a tour at Mystery Cave. You can do so here. It also recommends hiking trails at the park.

And weather-wise, it'll be a little chilly. There's a chance for some rain Saturday, though.
