The music started late in the afternoon on Saturday at Target Field, and by the time the headliner took the stage, there was news that a record-breaking crowd was in attendance at the Kenny Chesney concert. Twins President Dave St. Peter tweeted that the 44,152 fans set a new record for the Minneapolis venue.

The man the Pioneer Press termed "country music's Jimmy Buffett," Chesney is co-headlining the Minneapolis show with Jason Aldean, who is opening for him in 10 cities on the summer tour.

Brantley Gilbert, Cole Swindell and Old Dominion are also on the bill, with their sets beginning shortly after 4 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

The 47-year-old country superstar took a year off from touring in 2014. In an interview, Chesney told the Star Tribune's Jon Bream that he is excited to play an unprecedented two nights this weekend at Target Field, where he played single shows in 2012 and ’13. The only other market to get two Chesney "Big Revival" stadium concerts this year is Boston.

“This is the first time I’ve done a double stadium in Minneapolis,” he said. “It’s always been an amazing place for us to come play music.”

Chesney's album “The Big Revival” has yielded three No. 1 country singles so far, adding to Chesney's total of 25 No. 1 country songs.
