As honors go, they don't get much bigger than this for Spoon and Stable.

The North Loop restaurant helmed by James Beard Award-winning chef Gavin Kaysen is of such quality that Food & Wine has named it one of the "40 Most Important Restaurants of the Past 40 Years."

That's right, the past 40 years.

Kaysen's restaurant is no stranger to accolades. It regularly gets named one of the top restaurants in Minneapolis and the entire region, while Kaysen himself was a recent winner of the James Beard Award for Best Chef: Midwest.

It was also Food & Wine's Restaurant of the Year in 2015, so it's probably no surprise that it was included in its latest list.

"Gavin Kaysen's fantastic restaurant stands for the best of Minneapolis (and Midwestern) dining, ushering a new era for the city, now a vibrant food destination," it writes.

Kaysen, it continues, "cooks modern American food that is emotional, fun, and precise, and we can't wait to experience the next generation of chefs who come up under his influence."

Spoon and Stable opened in Minneapolis in 2014, with Kaysen since opening his second Twin Cities restaurant, the also acclaimed Bellecour in Wayzata, last year.
