For sale: St. Paul '50s drive-in that featured on Guy Fieri show

It's one of the last remaining original drive-ins in the Twin Cities.

A drive-in that has stood in St. Paul's East Side for almost 70 years has been put up for sale.

The Dari-Ette Drive-In at 1440 Minnehaha Ave. E, first opened its hatch in 1951, but after closing for the season in October it is now set to shutter for good, having been put up for sale.

The eatery has been owned by the Fida for its entire life, with current owner Angela Fida the granddaughter of founder Michael.

It has made its name for serving up a mixture of traditional drive-in burgers and shakes alongside Italian dishes like spaghetti and secret sauce, meatball subs, and pizza burgers.

The institution's reputation for Italian-American comfort food led to it getting a visit from Guy Fieri for a 2007 episode of "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives."

It was also named the best drive-in in Minnesota four years ago by the Star Tribune.

It's on the market for $384,900, which includes the marquee sign, 24 parking spaces, and various pieces of furniture and kitchen equipment inside.

Listing agent Greg Stoltzman, the husband of owner Angela Fida, told the Pioneer Press that the property could be taken over and used for another food business, though he concedes that higher-density uses are also possible too if the building is knocked down.
