Around 18 months after leaving WCCO, Mary McGuire is returning to Twin Cities screens with FOX 9.
McGuire announced Friday that she is joining FOX 9 as a freelance reporter.
She told Bring Me The News she will be reporting on the news stations 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. broadcasts throughout the summer.
The Edina native joined WCCO in 2017 after spells in Tampa and Rochester, MN, before that, but left in January 2020 to take a "much needed break" from local news.
As for why she's returning, she said: "As a native Minnesotan, I have always loved telling the stories of those in my community. My passion for journalism never went away.
"The last year has really emphasized the important role journalists play in our society and I am thrilled to be working with the incredible team at FOX 9."
McGuire is married to another Twin Cities TV journalist, KSTP anchor Brett Hoffland, who was in the headlines last year after he was diagnosed with – and later received the all clear from – testicular cancer.
