More changes to the local broadcast scene as FOX Sports North introduced a new studio host for Minnesota Timberwolves broadcasts this upcoming season.
Annie Sabo will join FSN's broadcast team as the studio host for "Wolves Live" pregame and postgame shows. Sabo comes to Minneapolis after working all over the country in recent years, with her most recent stop putting her at WFLA TV in Tampa Bay, Florida, where she covered the Buccaneers of the NFL, Rays of the MLB, and Lightning of the NHL, in addition to covering the PyeongChang Winter Olympics in South Korea.
Sabo is the daughter of former MLB player Chris Sabo, who played nine years in the big leagues and was a three-time All-Star with the Cincinnati Reds.
"Randomly, if I’m not covering a sporting event, I’m most likely at a sporting event for fun," Annie Sabo said in a Q&A with FSN. "I am constantly laughing. I don’t think I’m never not laughing. And I’m a huge pizza enthusiast, so if anyone has any suggestions as far as pizza places to go in Minneapolis, that would be incredible."
The rest of the Timberwolves broadcast crew includes play-by-play announcer Dave Benz, color analyst Jim Petersen, in-arena reporters Marney Gellner and Lea B. Olsen, along with studio analysts Kevin Lynch, Quincy Lewis and Rebekkah Brunson.
Sabo is taking the role of longtime Minnesota TV personality Tom Hanneman, who will still be "contributing to a variety of Wolves programming," a release from FSN says.
Sabo's arrival comes on the heels of Katie Emmer announcing her departure after one year at FSN. Emmer is the new pre- and postgame host for Philadelphia Flyers hockey on NBC Sports Philadelphia.
