An urban winery from the family behind Schram Vineyards Winery and Brewery is set to open later this month in Minneapolis' North Loop neighborhood.

AxeBridge Wine Company is celebrating its grand opening at 411 Washington Ave. on March 27.

AxeBridge is a full production winery – not just a wine bar — that aims to bring the "rural winemaking experience to the city." The North Loop Neighborhood says you'll find everything but the vineyard at AxeBridge (although they're considering trying to grow a few grapes in the city).

Its artisan wines are made with grapes from Minnesota growers, like Marquette and Itasca, as well as some from the West Coast, with the winery's website saying it will offer "familiar favorites" and "new varieties."

To kick things off, AxeBridge will have 6-8 wines on tap that were produced and barreled in Minneapolis, the North Loop Neighborhood says.

People can visit the winery to learn about the process, sip on wine in the tasting room or relax in the lounge area, the winery's website notes. There is also space for events.

AxeBridge is the latest venture from Aaron and Ashley Schram, the couple behind Shram Vineyards Winery and Brewery.

They opened their winery in Waconia to the public in 2013, and in 2014 they launched a brewery and soon opened Schram Haus Brewery in Chaska, making Schram Vineyards the first singly owned and operated winery & brewery in Minnesota, according to Schram's website
