Fulton teams up with Jameson Whiskey on a special barrel-aged beer

If you like whiskey and beer, get excited.

If you like Whiskey and beer, get excited.

Fulton Beer was invited by Jameson Irish Whiskey (yes, the largest whiskey producer in the world) to be part of Jameson Drinking Buddies.

As part of this partnership, Fulton came up with a beer called Whiskey, War & Peace, an imperial coffee stout that's aged in 10 Jameson barrels, Tucker Gerrick, the director of marketing at Fulton, told GoMN via email.

The beer is described as "rich, roasty and silky smooth," with hints of whiskey, Gerrick said.

Gerrick called the beer "something else" and said they're "so excited" for people to try it, noting that Fulton and Jameson go so well together because they both make approachable drinks.

Fulton is one of 16 breweries from across the country to collaborate with Jameson on beers for the Drinking Buddies program, with Gerrick saying they're "totally flattered and humbled" to be working with the distillery.

When can you try the beer?

Fulton's new beer was first poured in New York City for the Love Thy Neighbor beer festival. (Fulton recently expanded its distribution to New York.)

The other beers made for the Drinking Buddies program were also be part of the event.

And you'll get a chance to try this barrel-aged brew in Minnesota in November, Gerrick said. Fulton will be releasing it in its taproom on Nov. 16, with the event going from 3-10 p.m.

Check Fulton's website or follow the brewery on Twitter for updates on any future tastings.

More about Drinking Buddies

The 16 breweries that are part of Drinking Buddies this year were picked because they "play an important role in shaping the communities where they operate," Jameson's website says.

Fulton opened its brewery in the North Loop in 2010 (the taproom opened in 2012) at a time when co-founder Ryan Petz said it "wasn't exactly the most desirable neighborhood in Minneapolis," Jameson's website says.

"Today the neighborhood is the hottest destination in the city, and we feel lucky to be established in the heart of it," Petz added.

As for the partnership, Gerrick said it's "inspiring to see how committed Jameson is," adding that "they're so focused on doing this right with us, it's incredible.
