Furniture chain West Elm set to open its second Minnesota store

Upmarket furniture retailer West Elm is preparing to open only its second location in Minnesota.

The brand is opening a 11,000-square-foot store at 128 North 2nd Street in the Minneapolis' North Loop, on the ground floor of the new Second + Second development.

West Elm, whose other Minnesota store is at Centennial Lakes in Edina, says that its downtown Minneapolis store is tentatively scheduled to open on Thursday, Feb. 27.

Here's what the store says shoppers can expect when they pay a visit to the new store:

"The more than 11,000-sq.-foot store will open featuring its spring collection, alongside West Elm’s collection of original, modern home décor and accessories. The new store will also feature an assortment of products made by independent artists in the community as a part of the company’s LOCAL program."

As well as its array of own-brand and local artisan goods for sale, the retailer says it's planning to hold a number of pop-up events and workshops, with the aim of "connecting like-minded creatives, designers and makers."

West Elm says that its new store will create 30 new jobs in the North Loop, some of whom will form part of its Design Crew, offering customized styling and design for shoppers.
