Garrison Keillor: Coming to a campus near you

Keillor is switching things up and experimenting with using gratitude as a form of comedy.

Several Minnesota colleges will be getting a visit from Garrison Keillor.

On Thursday, Keillor announced a new tour in April via Twitter. The former Prairie Home Companion host will be stopping by five universities as part of his "Gratitude Tour."

According to the Star Tribune, the five cities in the tour were key to Keillor's early success. Like Moorhead, which was home of the very first Prairie Home road show.

Descriptions of the events say Keillor has "reached a certain age when you realize how lucky you are and you stop complaining." It goes on to explain that "complaint is a mainstay of comedy," so the retired radio show host will be experimenting with a comedy of gratitude, instead – "talking about parents, teachers, lucky breaks, dumb things that turned out smart."

This will be his first experimental tour. It's also in celebration of Minnesota Public Radio's 50th anniversary.

Between April 23-28, the storyteller will hit Duluth, Bemidji, St. Joseph, St. Peter and Moorhead.

You can see dates, locations, and get your tickets here.

Keillor, 74, retired in July after hosting Prairie Home Companion for 42 years. Since his retirement, Keillor has been touring all over the U.S. To see other tour dates, click here.
