Go ice fishing and ride down a 40-foot slide at St. Paul's CHS Field

St. Paul has both these events planned at a single location during Super Bowl week.

Dreams of an ice palace may have melted away, but St. Paul Super Bowl event organizers have still promised a big, wintry celebration.

And more details about what exactly that means were revealed Thursday, with Lowertown's CHS Field the site of some creative new attractions.

One of those is a giant slide – and it's in a pretty cool spot.

The "Saint Paul Super Slide" will be set up at CHS Field, stretching 40 feet from the upper deck into the field area, letting people glide over the lower-level seats. Here's an illustration:

Also at CHS Field – an ice fishing lake at the Minnesoyta (not a typo) Lawn. Measuring 16 feet by 24 feet, you'll be able to catch rainbow trout there.

The CHS Field activities run from Jan. 25 through Feb. 10, so through the week after the Super Bowl.

Nextdoor they're planning a Bold North Winter Night Market at the Downtown St. Paul Farmers Market site, with local vendors there selling their products in more than 100 stalls.

It will run two days (Feb. 2-3), and includes food and music options.

Red Bull Crashed Ice is returning Jan. 18-20, a "Bold North" flower show goes from Jan. 13 into March, Frogtown Curling Club is hosting an open house Jan. 30 if you want to learn to how to play, and there's a "Family Bowl Passport" where you can win prizes by visiting different St. Paul museums and public attractions.
