The reinvention of America's first indoor mall, the Southdale Center, continues with the addition of a new golf equipment store and testing facility.
Parson Xtreme Golf will open what is only its fifth U.S. store at the Edina mall in early February, with its other locations found in Chicago, Scottsdale, Seattle and Atlanta.
The 7,000-suqare-foot space will come complete with two custom golf club fitting bays, each of which are equipped with TrackMan simulators allowing shoppers to try out their swing before they buy.
The rest of the space will be taken up by an "expansive" shopping area, along with a putting green and a lounge.
The new store will be located on the mall's upper level, near Macy's.
It comes amid a wider transformation of the Southdale Center site, which has seen radical changes in recent years as it looks to offer consumers alternative options to traditional retail.
There have been major developments on each corner of its site, including the massive Restoration Hardware showroom at the southwest corner, and the addition of Shake Shack at the northwest corner.
There has been changes at the mall itself, with changing consumer tastes leading to the exit of JC Penney and Herberger's, but with the former being replaced by the huge new Life Time Fitness that opened late last year.
New additions in the coming months will include a new outlet for Rustica Bakery, and the upcoming opening of the salon Drybar.
