Grinch decoration stolen from Apple Valley yard, appeal goes viral
Seemingly every year there is an instance of a decidedly Grinch-like person pilfering decorations from outside some unfortunate Minnesotan home.
Well this time, the thief quite literally stole a Grinch from the front yard of a home belonging to Josh Strohman in Apple Valley.
Strohman had painted a 6-foot tall cartoon of the Grinch, which he placed in the front yard of his decorated home.
But then, overnight on Saturday, a thief with garlic in their soul made off with Strohman's work, prompting a report to police and appeals for information on Facebook.
One of those appeals, shared by his sister-in-law Kirsty Brecht, has been shared almost 8,000 times on Facebook since it was posted on Sunday, with news of the theft going viral on Reddit as well.
"Your soul is an appalling dump heap overflowing with the most disgraceful assortment of deplorable rubbish imaginable, mangled up in tangled up knots!" Strohman said of his burglar on Sunday.
He then went on to describe how overwhelmed he has been by the reaction, and has promised that the Grinch may well may a return in the future.
"Yesterday morning I had no intentions of recreating the stolen grinch," he wrote. "After hearing how many people enjoy seeing him out and looked forward to what he would be stealing from the yard each year there is no way I can let this thief bring the neighborhood down.
"I don't know if he will make a new appearance this year but he will be back."
Until the Grinch returns, Strohman has had a little fun with a new addition to his front yard.
