Group campaigns to get Duluth street named after 'Kojak' star Savalas
An effort is underway to get a street named after late "Kojak" star Telly Savalas, Minnesota Brown reports.
Savalas -- who famously played Detective Theo Kojak on the 1970s CBS-TV series -- is the focus of a new Facebook campaign to gain support for the project.
"Telly Savalas lived in Duluth Mn. Telly Savalas paid taxes in Duluth Mn. Telly Savalas made advertisements for Duluth Mn. Telly Savalas needs a street named after him," says the Citizens for Telly Savalas Blvd. Facebook page.
The actor even used his catchphrase "Who loves ya, baby?" in an ad for Duluth that he filmed in the city's legendary Glensheen Mansion.
The film and television star, who also played James Bond's nemesis Ernst Blofeld in "On Her Majesty's Secret Service," reportedly owned a house at one time in Duluth's Park Point area.
Savalas died of cancer in Los Angeles in 1994. He was 72.
