WCCO has announced that Heather Brown will be the new anchor of its This Morning show.
Brown, who already anchors WCCO Mid-Morning alongside DeRusha, will now be spending more time alongside him as they present the station's 4:30 a.m. to 7 a.m. weekday show.
The announcement was made by DeRusha on Friday morning, with Brown receiving congratulations from the rest of the This Morning team, including anchor/reporter Shayla Reaves, reporter Christiane Cordero, and meteorologist Riley O'Connor.
It comes after former This Morning anchor Kim Johnson was fired last spring, with Johnson telling BMTN the station said it "wanted to go in a different direction."
Brown first worked for WCCO between 2006 and 2010, before leaving to report for two years at Fox affiliate WNYW in New York City.
She returned to WCCO in 2012.
As well as serving as a Mid-Morning anchor, Brown is also well known for presenting WCCO's popular "Good Questions" segment, which she will continue to do alongside reporter Jeff Wagner.
Announcing her new role, DeRusha paid tribute to Brown, saying: "I'm over the moon about it. There's no better journalist, a terrific human, a great friend."
"I'm so excited to see what's ahead," Brown said.
