Hey Minnesota, this study says we're a pretty fun state to live in

Wisconsin is the place to go for nightlife, apparently.
Publish date:

When it comes to having fun things to do, not even six-plus months of freezing temperatures and deep snow and bring Minnesota down the list of most fun states in America.

According to WalletHub, Minnesota is the 10th-most fun state to live in.

The study takes into account 26 metrics, including number of restaurants, movie theaters, golf courses, arts theaters, fitness centers, marinas, skiing facilities and parks.

The top 10:

  1. California
  2. New York
  3. Nevada
  4. Florida
  5. Illinois
  6. Washington
  7. Texas
  8. Colorado
  9. Pennsylvania
  10. Minnesota

Weather conditions were a heavily weighted metric, and Minnesota cities didn't fare very well in that category.

Where's Wisconsin?

Our cheesy neighbors to the east came in at No. 15 on the list, while South Dakota (24), Iowa (29) and North Dakota (36) were ranked lower.

In a stunner, Wisconsin is ranked No. 2 overall in best nightlife, trailing only Nevada.

But when it comes to spending money on having fun, Minnesota is tied for first with Massachusetts and New Hampshire, although the study doesn't say how much the average person spends.
