If you've been thinking about hopping on a Nice Ride, the time is now.

Minneapolis' seasonal bicycle-sharing system is only available for a couple more weeks, because winter is quickly approaching. The lime green bikes will be packed up and put away on November 5, Nice Ride says.

If you've never rented a bike from Nice Ride, it's pretty simple – especially if you download the app. Otherwise, just find the nearest station and check out a bike at the kiosk.

The cost varies depending on how long you keep the bike. It's $3 to rent a bike for a half hour, or $6 for a 24 hour pass. More about pricing here.

It's important to note that there are some rules for renting the bikes. Nice Ride users must be at least 16 years old, and the bikes are designed to accommodate riders who are at least 5 feet tall.

And while you're not required to wear a helmet, Nice Ride says you really should. You can read more frequently asked questions here.

Nice Ride launched in Minneapolis in 2010, and now has over 200 stations in the Twin Cities. The service also operates in Rochester and Bemidji – where the bikes are orange, not green.

One last ride

To celebrate the end of the eighth successful season getting Minnesotans out and moving, Nice Ride is hosting a season ender social ride.

On the evening of November 4, the night before the service shuts down for 2017, Nice Riders in Minneapolis are invited to meet up at Gold Medal park at 5 p.m. for a slow-paced ride around the city.

Participants will have the option to purchase raffle tickets before the start of the ride. Then along the way, the group will make a stop at Surly Brewing Company, where event organizers will raffle off items from Nice Ride, Metro Transit, and more.

Around 7:00 p.m., the crew will head back to downtown Minneapolis on the green line – free Metro Transit passes will be provided for that.

Joining the event is free, you'll just have to rent a Nice Ride or BYOB (bring your own bike).

Check out a couple other Nice Ride social events here.
