The Vikings weren't the only Minnesotans to win big on Sunday, with Twin Cities actor Louie Anderson taking home his first primetime Emmy.

Anderson was lauded for his unusual role in FX's comedy "Baskets," in which he plays Christine, the mother of twin brothers "Chip" and "Dale," both played by Zach Galifianakis.

The veteran stand-up from St. Paul took home an Emmy for supporting actor in a comedy series, the LA Times reports, upsetting the odds that had "Veep's" Tony Hale and "The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt's" Titus Burgess as favorites.

During a backstage interview, the 63-year-old talked about his award, telling reporters: "These are so much heavier than you think. But then again, so am I," the newspaper notes.

In his acceptance speech, Anderson told the great and the good of television: "I have not always been a very good man, but I play one hell of a woman," according to Deadline.

"This is for my mom who I stole every nuance, shameful look, cruel look, loving look and passive-aggressive line from," he added.

He spoke with the Star Tribune on the phone after his win, describing the win as "like a reboot for me."

Ahead of the glittering awards ceremony, he joked with the newspaper that he has never been "a big party guy," saying: "I’m the Minnesotan in the basement yelling up that we need more ice."

He previously won two Daytime Emmy awards for "Life With Louie," his animated series from the 1990s, according to IMDB.
