If you went to the Minnesota State Fair this year, you helped make history

Seriously, that is a lot of people.

The Minnesota State Fair had nearly 2 million visitors this year, making it the most-attended State Fair in history.

A grand total of 1,997,320 visitors went to the fair this year. That's 53,601 more than last year's record-setting 1,943,719 visitors.

This year, the State Fair also set daily attendance records on three days: Monday, Aug. 28 with 144,504 people; Friday, Sept. 1 with 187,066 people; and Sunday, Sept. 3 with 242,759 people.

Here's a look at three other fun facts from this year's State Fair:

That's how many animals were born at the CHS Miracle of Birth Center during the 12 days of the Great Minnesota Get-Together, including 113 piglets, 12 calves and 20 lambs.

That's how many rides people took on the Great Big Wheel, which was new to this year's fair.

That's how many people attended Grandstand shows (not including the Amateur Talent Contest), which beat out the previous record of 111,319, set in 2016.

And mark your calendar: Next year's State Fair will run Aug. 23-Sept. 3.
