Italian restaurant closes abruptly in south Minneapolis

There's no word on if Al Vento is coming back.

A restaurant that has called south Minneapolis its home for more than a decade abruptly closed its doors on Friday.

Diners showed up after reserving tables at Al Vento restaurant in the Minnehaha neighborhood to find a sign on the door reading: "Al Vento will be closed until further notice."

There has been no public announcements on the Italian restaurant's website or its social media pages.

However, a post on Sunday on Facebook Marketplace announced an equipment and furniture sale at Al Vento's address, 5001 34th Ave. S.

Among the items for sale was an 8-burner stove and a deep-fat fryer.

While it's unclear when its website was last updated, the restaurant says it's been serving the south Minneapolis community "for over 14 years ... serving the fantastic flavors of southern Italy."

Bring Me The News has reached out to the restaurant for comment, though its phone number goes direct to voicemail.
