James Woods tweets about Mall of America – and people are mad

One Twitter user says the actor is "full of bigotry and hate."

Minnesotans love when celebrities visit or even just acknowledge the state in some way, but a shoutout by actor James Woods has instead sparked a bitter debate.

On his Twitter account on Monday, the two-time Oscar nominee shared a video that shows a crowd of women in the Mall of America – and he included a comment that some would argue is Islamophobic.

This is the latest in a series of controversial Twitter episodes involving Woods, who's become one of the most outspoken conservative voices in Hollywood.

The video he shared seems to have originated from a Twitter user named "Annemarie," a self-described Christian, conservative, and Trump supporter. Her account includes many comments and links critical of Islam, and Muslim immigration to the U.S.

While Woods' post has garnered many favorable comments – as well as tens of thousands of shares and likes – some Minnesotans have been swift in their rebukes of the actor.

Meanwhile, one Twitter user shared some insight as to what was going on that day at the Mall of America.

Other Twitter users agree that the women were there with their families celebrating a Muslim holiday.

Minnesota is home to about 23,000 Somalis, and the Twin Cities boasts the largest Somali population in the United States, U.S. News and World Report said.

Add this to the list of controversies Woods is dealing with. He's also been accused of sexual harassment, along with many other men in the entertainment industry lately
