In Minnesota, we adore our TV hosts, perhaps none more so than KARE 11 anchor Randy Shaver.

It turns out that Shaver is also adored by his colleagues, who left him nearly speechless with a surprise video and cake for his 60th birthday at the end of Wednesday night's newscast.

KARE 11 tweeted video the moment, which includes a look back at photos from Shaver's life, his son Ryan, a sports anchor at KARE 11, bringing the cake, and a tearful hug and kiss from his wife.

The news anchor revealed in August that he has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, 20 years after he battled – and beat – Hodgkin's Lymphoma.

He said his prognosis is "good," but notes that "the road ahead will not be easy."

The news prompted an outpouring of support from his fans and peers who have followed him during his 35-year career at KARE-TV.
