Long-serving KARE 11 anchor Julie Nelson is temporarily off Twin Cities screens after testing positive for COVID-19.

Nelson, who co-hosts KARE 11's evening news alongside Randy Shaver, confirmed her diagnosis on her Facebook page Tuesday.

"Hello friends. I just wanted to share that I tested positive for Covid today," she wrote.

"What I thought was a nasty cold turned out to be the nasty virus. I am not feeling great, but grateful that, so far, the symptoms aren't worse.

"I just wanted you to know why you won't be seeing my on air for awhile."

Nelson is one of Minnesota's best-known news anchors, and has been with KARE 11 since 2003.
