A young individual had a pique of remorse after a series of prank calls made to the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office.

The sheriff's office shared an apology note from the young caller, who had dialed 911 on several occasions.

"We are glad this young caller reviewed their actions and showed remorse for their actions," the sheriff's office said.

"We've sent them a letter back accepting their apology and made sure to let them know that they are still a friend of ours."

It appears the youngster made the calls while visiting his grandparents in northern Minnesota.

"I really trully apoligize and I learned that is not okay and it's not a joke," the letter reads. "My mom told me people have died because of this.

"I feel really bad and I wanted to make up so I wrote this letter. I also feel really bad about my grandma and grandpa because it was their house and I was afraid they would get charged.

"I'm really sorry. This won't happen again. I hope you have a good year. Please forgive me."

911 PRANK CALLS...

We received this heartfelt letter that was written to our 911 Dispatchers who fielded some prank calls from a young visitor to Beltrami County.

Prank calling 911 is a serious matter. We are glad this young caller reviewed their actions and showed remorse for their actions. We've sent them a letter back accepting their apology and made sure to let them know that they are still a friend of ours.

Parents, please talk to your children about appropriate 911 use. Also know that the cell phone you don't use anymore and hand off to a child as a toy can still call 911 if it can power on.
