KSTP moves meteorologist Ken Barlow to mornings

Veteran KSTP meteorologist Ken Barlow will be filling the station's morning news vacancy following the departure of Patrick Hammer, the Pioneer Press reports.

Barlow, who previously did the weather forecasts on evenings and weekends on KSTP, will now be featured on weekdays from 4:30-7:30 a.m. on that channel, plus 7-9 a.m. on KSTC Channel 45.

Hammer's last day at the station was Jan. 10. The meteorologist and the morning news anchor Brad Sattin were notified in November that their contracts weren't being renewed and were each given six months to look for new employment.

KSTP News Director Lindsay Radford said Monday that moving Barlow to mornings compliments the strong presence chief meteorologist Dave Dahl brings to evenings.

"Minnesota weather is tricky because it changes throughout the day so by moving Ken to mornings, we’ve got our viewers covered throughout the day with our most experienced meteorologists," Radford said.

Barlow previously worked at KARE in Minneapolis until 2005, when he left to do the weather at a Boston TV station. He returned to Minnesota in 2011 after being hired by KSTP.
