Listen to Bob Dylan's 'extraordinary' Nobel lecture

Dylan released the lecture with just days before the deadline.

Bob Dylan has finally delivered his Nobel lecture.

The Minnesota native was the first songwriter to ever win the Nobel prize for literature, and in typical Dylan fashion he said he was too busy to accept the medal in person. He finally got the medal this spring.

And the only thing he had to do in order to claim the nearly $1 million that comes with winning the Nobel prize was give a lecture within six months of the award ceremony (that was held on Dec. 10, 2016.).

With just days to spare before the deadline, Dylan released his nearly 30-minute lecture, which he aims to describe how his songs relate to literature. You can read it here or listen to Dylan read it below.

In a blogpost Monday, Sara Danius, the permanent secretary of the Swedish Academy, which awards the prize, called Dylan's lecture "extraordinary" and "eloquent."
