The radio play-by-play voice of the Minnesota Lynx, John Focke, has been hired to do the same job for the NBA's Charlotte Hornets.
Focke has served as the play-by-play radio voice of the Lynx since 2012, calling multiple championships along the way. He's also been the executive producer and studio host for the Minnesota Timberwolves Radio Network since 2007, in addition to dabbling in TV as the host of "Wolves Weekly" on Fox Sports North.
“I am honored and thrilled to be joining the Hornets organization,” Focke said in a release. “I look forward to connecting with the Hornets passionate and knowledgeable fan base. I’m excited to start sharing the stories of our players and this franchise."
In Charlotte, he'll be the second new radio voice of the Hornets in as many seasons.
According to the Charlotte Observer, Focke replaces Chris Kroeger, who was hired before the start of the 2018-19 season only to disappear from broadcasts in March. No reasons were provided by the Hornets regarding Kroeger's departure.
It's not yet clear what the Lynx and Timberwolves plan to do to replace Focke.
