M&M's to open 'experiential store' at Mall of America

It will be one of only a handful of such stores in the world.

The Mall of America will become one of only a few locations in the world to be home to an M&M's retail store.

The Mars Retail Group has previously launched M&M's stores in hugely visible tourist spots in some of the world's biggest cities – including in London's Leicester Square, Broadway in New York, the Las Vegas strip, and in Shanghai.

The confectionary maker is expanding the M&M's footprint by opening three new locations, in Berlin, Germany, Orlando, Florida, and right here in Minnesota.

It is expected to open at 24,000-square-foot space in the East Market area of the Mall of America in late 2020, taking up two floors on Levels 1 and 2, with an entrance onto the Rotunda.

Visitors can expect decor that pays homage to Minnesota and Midwestern culture, along with the "Wall of Chocolate" that is a feature in all of its stores.
