Anyone who attended Minnesota Vikings training camp during the 52 years it was held in Mankato knows all about the giant hill near the practice fields and campus housing.

Running up that Stadium Hill would be hard enough just once, but doing it repeatedly for 12 consecutive hours is the stuff of nightmares. But that's what Mankato resident Daniel Lee is planning to do on Saturday.

"Hopefully I can withstand the 12 hours of moving and going up and down the hill all day, but I feel that I should be able to," said Lee. "It's going to be painful, but it's going to be great."

Anyone who knows the hill understands the elevation gradually increases until going very vertical just over halfway to the top. It's a grueling run.

He's attempting what would be impossible for most in an effort to raise money for amputees. He told Bring Me The News he's not so much nervous about running the hill an estimated 90 times as much as he is about people donating to the cause.

The 32-year-old is doing it to raise money for the Range of Motion Project to help provide prosthetics to those who are financially stressed or without insurance.

To donate to the cause, go here. As of this writing, he's raised $815 of his  $8,000 goal.

"Please help me support the Range of Motion Project by donating to my climb. Every dollar goes directly to helping amputees get access to high-quality prosthetic care and follow-up services they need to be fully mobile again," says Lee.

Lee will hit the hill running at 8 a.m. Saturday and he's encouraging people to join him for a trip or two or 20 up and down the hill, or to just stop by and offer him support.

After running the massive Mankato hill for 12 straight hours, Lee will set his sights on climbing three volcanoes in Ecuador this month. Joining him will be a team of athletes, including amputees.

"We are climbing to show the world what is possible with proper access to prosthetic care," Lee said.
