McCartney's Midwest show set for Milwaukee, not Minneapolis

Paul McCartney's band on the run will be playing a Midwest tour date this summer -- just not as close as Minnesota fans had hoped for.

The Star Tribune reports that the legendary former Beatle's Out There Tour will play Miller Park in Milwaukee July 16. The retractable-roofed ballpark is home to the Milwaukee Brewers.

The announcement follows rumblings last week that McCartney would possibly be bringing his tour to Minnesota when Live Nation's Twitter account tweeted the logo for the musician's summer tour without any sort of explanation.

Even though the Star Tribune said last week that it was unlikely Minneapolis would not be McCartney's destination, final word didn't come until Monday.

McCartney last gig in Milwaukee was in 2005, the same year he the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer played the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.

If fans are willing to hit the road to Milwaukee, tickets go on sale Friday and range from $39.50 to $255.

If it's any consolation, if you want to see McCartney once removed, McCartney's son, James, announced last week that he'd be playing 7th Street Entry in Minneapolis on May 5.

With any luck, Paul McCartney will show up unannounced and jam at his son's gig, like he and Rolling Stone Ron Wood did in London last month.
