A restaurant on St. Paul's University Avenue is closing down this weekend, with a decline in traffic during the winter months to blame.
Mi Casa Su Casa Eatery, the Filipino-Mexican restaurant at 383 University Ave. W., announced on its Facebook page that it will close down for good after Saturday service.
"It is with great regret and sorrow in our hearts that we are closing our doors. Saturday will be our last and only day open this weekend," its post says.
"We have decided to pull back and restructure our business. We have learned a lot in the past months as business owners as to what works and what doesn’t."
The Pioneer Press reports that the restaurant, which is situated opposite the Western Avenue Green Line light rail station, said there wasn't enough foot traffic to stay afloat, which was particularly the case during the harsh winter months.
Despite that, owners Juvelyn and Saul Mellado plan to still play a role in the St. Paul food scene.
"We are not completely phasing out," they wrote. "We are still going to be active in the food industry and the community. More announcements to come about Pop-ups so stay tuned.
'Please come and see us if you can on Saturday not to say goodbye but 'We’ll see you later!'"
