Mike Max replaces Mark Rosen as sports director at WCCO-TV

Max has been the No. 2 to Rosen for years.

A familiar face is taking over as sports director at WCCO-TV.

Channel 4 News Director Kari Patey announced Tuesday that Mike Max has been named sports director in place of Mark Rosen, whose 50-year career at the station came to an end last Thursday.

Max is as Minnesotan as they get, having been born and raised in Gaylord, Minnesota, and serving as a sports anchor with CBS/WCCO going back to 1994 and the longtime host of "Sports To The Max" on WCCO Radio.

“I grew up on WCCO and am honored to lead a part of its legacy with some of the finest people who work in television for one of the finest television stations in the country," Max said in a release.

Rosen stepped away from the TV side of media to be home more often with his wife, Denise, who has been fighting a battle since doctors discovered a brain tumor last fall.

Rosen is still appearing as a regular contributor to KFAN radio and is on record saying he has plans write more and start a podcast.
