Minneapolis' newest Lunds & Byerlys opens May 20
A new grocery store will soon open on the spot formerly occupied by the family-run Bergan's Supervalu.
Lunds & Byerlys Nokomis, as the company is calling it, is scheduled to open to the public on Thursday, May 20, 2021, at 8 a.m. The store, located at 4725 Cedar Avenue in Minneapolis, will feature a number of features familiar to Lunds & Byerlys customers, including:
- A Taco Mas build-your-own taco bar
- A Mediterranean bar with Gyro, falafel, hummus
- Hissho Sushi, prepared in-store daily
- Reserve Aged Beef
- A "FoodE Expert" to answer questions and help with meal ideas
- Bachman’s floral
The company is also highlighting the planned indoor and outdoor café seating areas.
Online pickup and delivery will also be available.
This will be the fourth Lunds & Byerlys location in the city of Minneapolis (the others are in downtown, Uptown and Northeast), and 28th active location overall.
Its opening will mark the return of a grocer to the spot. The family-owned Bergan's Supervalu began operating there in 1955, originally as a Red Owl.
The store closed in December of 2019 and was demolished to make way for the larger, mixed-use development that houses the upcoming Lunds & Byerlys store.
