Minneapolis native Rachel Leigh Cook will be in town this weekend to receive film award

Apparently she really is all that.

You undoubtedly know this Minneapolis native as the title star of the ultimate 1990s teen rom-com, She's All That.

But Rachel Leigh Cook has over 80 acting credits to her name, and she'll be at the Twin Cities Film Festival this weekend to receive an award for her latest role.

On Saturday, Oct. 28, festival organizers will present the actress with their 2017 North Star Award. There'll be a screening of A Midsummer Night's Dream – a new Shakespeare adaptationin which Cook plays Hermia – the same day.

According to an email news release, you can catch her – along with director Casey Wilder Mott – on the red carpet at 4:45 p.m. The film starts at 5:15.

All this is happening at the Showplace ICON, a movie theater at the Shops at West End in St. Louis Park.

By the way, if you can't make the Saturday showing, there's another screening Thursday, Oct. 26 at 2:30 p.m. Either way, you can buy tickets right here.

More about Rachel Leigh Cook

Cook was born in Minneapolis in 1979, and attended Minneapolis South High School with another homegrown celebrity, Josh Hartnett.

According to the Internet Movie Database, she got her start as a model at age 10, appearing in ads for Minneapolis-based Target and other companies.

But what made her a star was 1999's She's All That, Wonderwall notes. Since then, Cooke has acted in dozens of films, TV series, and video games, and had a long stint on Cartoon Network's Robot Chicken

She has two children with fellow actor Daniel Gillies, to whom she's been married since 2004.
