Minneapolis-St. Paul Int'l Film Festival gets underway

Rain, shine or … snow, the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Film Festival begins its two and a half week run Thursday.

The festival officially kicks of Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. with the opening night screening of director Ken Loach's "The Angels' Share" at St. Anthony Main in Minneapolis, followed by an opening night party.

If you're a fan of "True Blood's" Alexander Skarsgard (pictured with his "The East" co-star Ellen Page, above), the festival will feature three films starring the acclaimed Swedish actor, the Pioneer Press reports.

The first is "Disconnect," which screens April 14, followed by "What Maisie Knew" on April 19 and 20, and "The East" on April 24.

In addition, "What Maisie Knew" directors David Siegel and Scott McGehee will at both screenings and will host a Q & A afterward.

Minnesota Public Radio reports that the festival will feature than 200 films from 65 countries. Among the presentations are a number of Minnesota-made features, shorts and music videos.

If you're into non-fiction, the Star Tribune reports that several documentaries will play a major role in this year's festival.

The Minneapolis/St. Paul International Film Festival concludes April 28.
