Minnesota campground named among the Top 10 in the US
The Dyrt has rated one Minnesota campground among the best in the country based on reviews.
The popular camping app recently released its Top 10 U.S. Campgrounds of 2021 after creating a special algorithm to search through the 45,000 campgrounds that have been reviewed on the website to come up with the top 10, based on a combination of user ratings, number of ratings and the quality, length and character of reviews.
The campground at Split Rock Lighthouse State Park near Two Harbors came in at No. 5 on The Dyrt's Top 10 list.
The app touts the park's hike-in campsites along Lake Superior with views of the historic lighthouse.
"Split Rock’s campsite is the perfect summer getaway with trails leading down to the beach so you can cool off along a secluded coastline. The hike in allows for a private beach experience as The Dyrt camper Scott M. said, 'We were able to enjoy the beach all to ourselves,'" according to the app.
Split Rock Lighthouse State Park has 26 sites total, including four backpack sites, two wheelchair-accessible sites and 20 cart-in sites.
"Our trusty campers recommend sites 18, 19, and C1 for the best views of the lighthouse and coastline. Split Rock is open year-round, in case you’re also looking for a scenic winter camping experience," The Dyrt says.
