Minnesota kicks off May with a chance of strong storms, hail possible
Strong to severe thunderstorms rolled through western Minnesota overnight and new storms are expected to redevelop in southeast Minnesota on Tuesday afternoon.
The Storm Prediction Center has placed southeast Minnesota in a slight risk for severe storms, though meteorologist Paul Douglas says only a few, isolated patches are likely to prove severe.Large hail is the main threat although wind damage is also possible on the borders in southeast Minnesota, the National Weather Service La Crosse says.
The Twin Cities is on the northwest edge of a marginal risk for severe storms, but chances the metro gets hit by severe weather is lower than it is to the south and east.
