Twin Cities TV station KARE 11 has announced the addition of a new meteorologist to its team.

Ben Dery, a native of Chisago Lakes, Minnesota, was introduced to the NBC affiliate in a video earlier this week.

He's the latest member of KARE 11's weather team, coming after the departures of Sven Sundgaard and Jason Disharoon earlier this year.

Dery joins KARE – and returns home – after spending five years at another NBC affiliate, KING 5 in Seattle.

In an introduction video posted by KARE this week, Dery reveals that he had previously interned at KARE in 2008 while he was studying at St. Cloud State University.

Prior to working in Seattle, Dery was a meteorologist at Duluth-based WDIO.

He and his wife Emily recently welcomed their first child, daughter Aurora, who was born late 2019.
