A pair of comedians with Minnesota ties have sold a pilot to MTV that takes a satirical look at the world of celebrity and rich families, the Pioneer Press reports.

Minneapolis native Cy Amundson and Worthington native Joel Hoekstra created "Watching the Wilsons," which Deadline Hollywood describes as a comedy "about a family in the vein of the Kardashians with a pinch of the Bluths from 'Arrested Development' and the Pritchetts from 'Modern Family.'"

Amundson will also star in "Watching the Wilsons," which Deadline says is designed to have the look and feel of an actual reality show.

The Pioneer Press says the Amundson and Hoekstra won't find out if the show will go to series until later this year.

Amundson, meanwhile, is keeping himself busy doing stand-up. He's set to do a stretch at the Acme Comedy Company in Minneapolis March 26-30.

See video of Amundson making his TV debut on "Conan" below.

In addition, St. Paul native Charlie Saunders has also sold a comedy pilot to Comedy Central, along with Ian Roberts and Jay Martel, the showrunners of the network's sketch comedy "Key and Peele," the Pioneer Press reports.

Sanders tells the Pioneer Press that Roberts "plays the old-school cop and I'm the new-school cop and we're always annoying each other."
